Principal Investigator (PI) and coordinator of the Research Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (CITER) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). Villas Boas’ research interest include the dialogue between Theology and Literature, epistemological dialogue between Theology, Religious Studies and Humanities, Complexity and Public Theology; Political spirituality; Spiritual Exercises; Jesuitism; Michel Foucault; Michel de Certeau, Giorgio Agamben; Vladimir Korolenko; Theology and Culture; Dialogue between Ancient Christian Authors and Classical Studies. He currently coordinates the international and interdisciplinary project « Common home and new ways of living interculturally: Public theology and ecology of culture in pandemic times », and the project «Archeology of the theological knowledge». Regarding the NU Research Initiative for the Study of Russian Philosophy and Religious Thought, he is interested in developing the relationship between Russian thought, Western theology and the epistemological critique of the emergence of the so-called human sciences in the 19th century, as well as its contemporary repercussion.
