Sr. Teresa Obolevitch

Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, Poland

I was born into a Polish family in Vidzy (Belarus) in May 22, 1974. In 1994 I graduated Medical School in Minsk and then worked as a volunteer in the Catholic parish in Orenburg. In 1997 I made my first religious profession in the Congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary in Poland. In 2002 I defended my MA thesis, “Science in Search of Metaphysics: Aspects of Scientific Knowledge in Vladimir Soloviev’s Theory of Integral Knowledge,” at the Theological Institute in Tarnow. In 2005 I defended my PhD dissertation in philosophy, “The Problematic Concordism: Faith and Knowledge in the Thought of Vladimir S. Soloviev and Semen L. Frank,” at the Pontifical Academy in Krakow. Since 2006 I have worked at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow (in 2012-2016 I held the post of the Vice-Dean of the Faculty). I am a permanent member of the Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Krakow and author of numerous works in Polish, Russian, English and French, primarily on the history of Russian religious philosophy. In 2013-2018 I was Chair of Philosophy of Religion, and in July 2018 I was appointed ordinary professor and Chair of Russian and Byzantine Philosophy. Since 2012, I have delivered numerous guest lectures in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Sweden, France, Spain and the USA.
