Gary Hamburg

Gary Hamburg, who has taught at Stanford (1977-1978), Cornell College (1978-1979), Notre Dame (1979-2004), is currently Otho M. Behr Professor of History at Claremont McKenna College (California). He is co-editor with Semion Lyandres of The Journal of Modern Russian History and Historiography, published in Russian and English at Brill for the past fifteen years. His interests encompass Russian history since 1500, with an emphasis on politics in connection with religion and philosophy. Hamburg’s research presently focuses on Russian intellectual and political history from the reign of Catherine II to the death of Pushkin.
